According to the research report issued by a technology market research institute Strategy Analytics, it is said that the shipment of China-made smart phones in the third quarter reached a history high of 24 million units, with a quarterly growth rate of 58%. In terms of shipment, China has surpassed America, becoming the world’s largest smart phone market.
Strategy Analytics’ analyst Linda Sui pointed out that as international and local brands launched a variety of smart phones, together with the active promotion and marketing scheme of smart phones manufacturers, the shipment of smart phones in Chinese mainland has been significantly increased.
According to statistics, Nokia remained the largest smart phone brand in mainland China in the third quarter, closely followed by Samsung Electronics and Apple Incorporation. However, it is said that if China Telecom introduces CDMA iPhone 4S in early 2012, Apple’s market share in mainland China will probably increase. In addition, it should be noted that HTC and Sony Ericsson’s market share in China’s smart phone market have also largely increased in the third quarter.
